In return, he has asked that I assist in gaining votes for a man named Sam Merlotte. I know little of this man other than that the Lord thinks him... naive. Malleable. And he has offered me a thousand dollars per voter turned to his cause, which I would be happy to use to assist our organization.

This can easily be done on my own, but I figured I'd let you know, and perhaps get a feel for if this would be something worth bringing to the group at large.

I can tell you that the organization is taking an interest in this election. And I have had discussions of my own with Ambassador Baelish regarding Sam Merlotte. But what benefits Lord Baelish is not necessarily of benefit to us. He has his own agenda, and follows his own path.

Earn his money as you wish, but be aware- we may yet put our power behind another candidate.

[He supposed it was to be expected. Lord Baelish was certainly a man that struck Dio as self-serving, which of course would not always line up with the interest of an organization. Now it just stood for Dio to weight what kind of decision he'd like to make in regards to this new information.

A not so terribly small part of Dio wanted to exert his power to show off. And for the money, of course, but mostly to show off. Especially since the last little bit did make him feel like the Count was lowering himself to give him permission to act according to his own desires.]

Of course. I really should not let the Ambassador down, if he has chosen to place his faith in me. It would seem rather ungrateful, wouldn't it? Unless there is a reason that this other candidate outweighs the Ambassador's, anyway. I have my own agenda as well, though of course it can fall in line with any number of other agendas.

There are numerous roads to one destination, after all.

He was an enemy of mine during the war that divided our Galaxy. We have fought many times. He is proud, impulsive, and powerful. He thinks nothing of taking great risks, especially for those he considers allies.

Might I ask what your interest in him is? If you make an enemy of him, my advice to you is to proceed with caution.

I wouldn't say an "enemy", but there were some discoveries recently that could maybe lead to that.

I intend to accomplish a great many things, Doctor. But if you are referring to the event I have just announced, my hope is to rally the imPorts and our supporters toward positive changes in the government's policies.

And to make it clear to the authorities that our cooperation with them will be greater if they listen to what we have to say.

You're breeding dissent and encouraging rebellion- that is how the government will see it. I don't believe they'll take kindly to your actions or believe them well-intentioned.

I believe he would. He was a General over an army of clone troopers which fought against my forces for years. And he has a strong appetite for further power. He is not overly fond of me, either.

The government can think what they wish. Their foolishness is, unfortunately, beyond my control. Yet the truth remains: I and those with me will be exercising our democratic right to assemble and to criticize the government.

Any action taken by the authorities to violate that right by threatening our gathering will risk a heavy political price. They would not dare be so bold.
