Perhaps. But unlikely. No ambassador, no matter how poor of a job they've done, has ever been removed from office.
[ A beat. ]
However -- the fact that an ambassador's term is unlimited and given the popularity of these elections and the many who run for the position, do you not believe it might be a wise idea for a limit to be imposed upon the term?
[ More success would probably be had to champion for that cause rather than slandering Padme. Slander would make the devoted masses push back even harder, to make them even more loyal. But this would create more opportunities in the community. Even Padme herself might agree with it because it was the very crux of democracy. And Baelish has moved beyond the position, so what does he care if being an ambassador is no longer indefinite? ]
Perhaps. But it would be a shame to lose actually desirable leadership to some arbitrary restriction, don't you agree? Imagine if your own career had been cut short by such an imposition.
[The Sith believe in unlimited power, and unlimited terms to go with it.]
Should actually desirable leadership be locked into a position that ultimately will not matter? If you look at the track record of all of us as ambassadors, including myself, is there anything we accomplished you would say is a 'great feat and to be remembered for all of history?' It is a position given to us out of pity where we can accomplish some things, but not much that matter in the grand scheme.
But if someone wished to remain an ambassador indefinitely, they could always run for the term again.
Come now, my friend, you are far too modest. Of course our hosts intended the Ambassador to be a ceremonial position, a distraction from our problems, but strong leaders like you and Revan have proven it can be a platform for accomplishment in the hands of someone with vision. You certainly left Maurtia Falls a more prosperous and cultured place, just as he heightened its defences in crucial areas.
[This isn't just flattery- the Count genuinely is a fan of Baelish's library, and acknowledges the role Helix Station has played in saving imPorts during times of crisis.]
Vital and helpful structures, mind you. But in essence, it was all we were able to do within the city. I would say the greatest accomplishment we made as ambassadors was aiding Kaneki in getting his bill passed. But even that took all three ambassadors to accomplish.
Disturbed. Right. Yeah. Disturbed. That's good to know. Good know we're on the same page, yo— [ he can't contain it any longer; breeziness suddenly caving to trademark Pinkman emphatic vociferation™ when Shit Has Hit The Fan ] about how testicular the Porter's "recent activities" were on everybody! People droppin' dead or bleedin' out everywhere! Just 'cause of people tryna talk to the Porter, man! "Disturbed," oh yeah, totally, yeah, that's one way to put it, yo, "disturbed".
I would agree with you on that point. It would be a tragedy if imPorts like Kaneki still were forced to Register simply to feed themselves within the law.
It would, of course, be preferable if a single Ambassador was able to achieve more. But consider if one of those three had been more in thrall to the government. That bill would never have passed. Clearly, who fills the position has some manner of impact.
['Testicular' is not the word Dooku would use for it. Or a word he would ever use, ever, in any context. But at least they are done with the stilted pretense, and can get to the root of the matter.
He makes his voice a sorrowful murmur:]
Such a terrible consequence, for asking a few vital questions. Were any of your people affected by these... symptoms?
[He imagines they must have suffered acutely, to provoke such a reaction. Pinkman's deplorable sentimentality to those he is close to has been one of his most dependable traits in the Count's experience.]
There is a certain truth to the matter. And we are getting to the point where the government is starting to share things with us to tell the imPort community. Hopefully a trend that continues.
[ It's a slow game to build the trust, but the reward at the end will be monumental. ]
[ Has Jesse talked about this with anyone? No. He's been bottling it up. So, Dooku is copping Jesse's meltdown. ]
It's not just my people we're talking about here. We're talking innocent people, innocent kids. Innocent little kids, yo! I was one of the healers helpin' out through the whole crisis. There were kids coming in that were bleeding out, limbs missing, badly burned. One girl I had to help had a gunshot wound through her head. Whole back of her head was blown wide open, and she suffered for days because she didn't know how to get help. And all of that? Just from people asking the Porter a coupla questions?!
Hopefully, yes. Yet I would not count sharing information that leads to us fighting their battles for them yet again as any significant victory. Only when they begin sharing information that leads to real change for our community will I allow myself optimism.
So there's an Ambassador position going on for Nonah and I wanted to tell you that I'm totally going for it! I'm still fired up about what we talked about. I thought that, yeah okay it's limited, but it's a platform, and if I get in I can use it and push it! And if I don't get in, I can use the fact I ran for the position and these were my ideas to my advantage! And maybe get noticed more?
I dunno. Just wanted to let you know though! You inspired me to do it.

[Dooku is visibly surprised by the contact for a moment, but once he grasps what Tailgate is saying he immediately puts on a warm smile.]
What lovely news to hear. I commend you for being willing to step forward. I wish you every success in the campaign, and would be only too happy to advise you if you wish it.
Inexperience can be an advantage in this field. It is seen as authentic by some. Tell the truth and speak from the heart, and your words will reach those willing to hear.
