Even if it's only a starting point, that's better than what it is now. There's a lot of talk all the time about the place needing help, but the efforts at play there now are disorganized. If this group is going to make a play at this city, our best bet at guiding people into our way of thinking is to offer- and demonstrate- to be the hand that brings the place into line.

Intimidation isn't a clean and friendly-looking policy from the outside but hey, it's something. I'm sick of small fry in my territory.

It'd make more sense to position a candidate who's loyal but more palatable to those outside our group.

There's a book on my world called Witch Detective.
It's about some witch girl that falls in love with a vampire.
It's literally the worst thing I've ever seen.
But it's OBNOXIOUSLY popular because the vampire is sexy.

You'd be amazed what people will ignore in favor of sexiness.
