WHO: ImPorts!
WHERE: New York City
WHEN: December 7 - 10th
WHAT: A trip to New York with an ulterior purpose
WARNINGS:
A - Train trip
[ the choice of transport for this trip is something new: train! A bullet train of sorts, in fact. The small group of imPorts will be leaving Maurtia Falls Train Station pretty early in the morning (think 7am, sorry guys!) and head to New York to enjoy the weekend and take some time off. Because ImPorts are still loved by many, even though their tickets were coach, they are offered an upgrade, with seats that are larger and more comfortable than ordinary seats and offer more foot space.
All seats can be turned by 180 degrees, allowing travelers to always face forward, but also allow creating a group of seats facing each other. Of course if you want to sleep and not be bothered by others (or you are just antisocial), naturally you can turn your back to other imPorts!
The train is served by small food carts with a selection of snacks, drinks and boxed meals, but there is always the bar car if anyone wants to go explore the train and spend some time away from the seats. Just don't lose your ticket, or you'll have to explain yourself to the Ticket collector.
And don’t think people haven’t noticed some familiar faces… don’t forget you are all imPorts and well known all over US! So maybe someone will be bothering you for an autograph, even when you are just trying to get to the toilet. ]
B - The Hotel
[Hotels in New York are generally expensive, but this place has graciously offered your characters a discount in exchange for the prestige of hosting imPorts under their roof! Still, you’ll probably have to share a room with one or more of your fellow travelers to save money on this trip. Hope that your roomie doesn’t snore and that the wi-fi is reliable! Maybe you can watch a movie together on the extra-large hotel room TV.
The beds are comfy and the complimentary breakfast in the morning is a perfectly satisfactory selection of toast, fruit, cereal and eggs. If you want to splurge a little, go ahead and order up some room service! Just be careful how many crumbs you leave lying around the room, as this hotel features automated Roombas to aid their human cleaning staff, and the little robots will buzz around your feet to tidy the carpets if you make too big of a mess.
For those who follow the news, on the last day of the trip, there will be a story in the Majority Report of a high-profile murder of a CEO in the city… but surely that has nothing to do with your trip, does it?]
C - The Big Apple
[ New York, New York! Once the group arrives, they are more than welcome to explore the city on your own, as a group, or even just in pairs. Naturally everyone has different preferences, so it's not like a museum will tickle everyone's fancy; but there is so much to see in this place that it's hard not to be fascinated. There are rumours that in another time and another universe, this place was the city of imPorts and of the Porter, but today it’s just a fantastic place to visit.
Times Square and its many billboards beckons, as do the Brooklyn Bridge and of course Lady Liberty. Central Park is big enough to get lost in, as well as a chance to live the cliche and play chess with a stranger. But hey, if you are in the mood for something more musical, Broadway has plenty to offer. You can also get some culture at the public library, or museum of natural history… or of sex if that’s more your speed. Check out the famous Strand bookstore for good measure too! And at the end of all that walking and exploring like all tourists do, why not go for good old hot dogs and pizza?
No matter what you choose, go ahead and enjoy your vacation!
Except it might not be a vacation at all. While imPorts hang around Porter cities, they are known pretty much all over the country, so don't forget a lot of people might recognize you! So that store robbery happening just around the corner? That old lady asking for help to move her shopping bags? Or that child who got their kitten stuck on a tree?
