"You have reached Count Dooku. I regret that I am unavailable to answer your hail. Kindly leave a message, and I shall respond at the earliest opportunity."

[ It just... keeps going. On and on. It finally stops all together once Adachi got out of the hospital, but Dooku’s inbox was left well and thoroughly punned. ]
[He says nothing more. This isn't the moment for a big speech, this is a moment to stand back and let Archie's own emotions work on him from the inside.]
Thank you, Mayor Baelish. You see now why Senator Amidala is not to be underestimated. She has already swayed many in her brief time here.
I advise you to be on your guard as you work with the new Ambassador. She can be rather inflexible in her ideals... And is far more perceptive than most with that weakness.
[Meaning she has actual morals and a brain to go with them.]
[ And it is because of Dooku's warning that Baelish will be certain to tread carefully. ]
Likely her ideals will keep her busy with the superficial aspects of Maurtia Falls. I anticipate she will be consumed with a desire to make a difference and torn between managing her duties and the people she knows from home. It should keep her preoccupied enough to stay out of my affairs. And I do not intend on inviting her into my efforts.
That said, so long as she is within my city, she is under my jurisdiction. Should she become a problem for you, do not hesitate to let me know.
I may take you up on that kind offer, Lord Baelish. She and I were enemies in our own Galaxy. She has a strong hatred for me, and suspects me of all manner of activities.
But her family and allies from home are most... [Dramatic.] Distracting. They may divert her from being too great of a nuisance, as you say.
It is not very ambassadorial of her to use her perceived knowledge of what you were like back home to compare it to how you are here.
[ Even if it's true... ]
The longer we are away from our worlds, the more we change in ways that cannot be anticipated. Technically the man you were years ago is not the man she knows now.
That is a most reasonable stance to take. A pity that she will not see it that way.
If her conduct becomes sufficiently unambassadorial, perhaps an opportunity will arise to remove her from the position. The next round of elections could produce a candidate who is easier for both of use to work with.
[The Count is simply spitballing at this point, but it is an attractive option. Dooku enjoys turning the strengths of others into their weaknesses, and Amidala's perfectly sound hostility toward him could also be made into a political liability to her.]
